To my readers, I ask that you bear with me. I'm a new member of this blogging world. Matter of fact, this is my very first blog post...ever! So, if you have any recommendations or advice I will gladly accept it all. It's much appreciated!  For starters, I want to share with you the meaning behind the title of my blog. It stems from my one of my favorite quotes.
"I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set it free."- Michelangelo .
This quote resonates within me. It speaks to me like no other quote. When Michelangelo spoke these words he meant them literally, but in an insightful sense, he meant them figuratively. Michelangelo was a phenomenal Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, and engineer of the late 1400s, creating masterpieces such as the Statue of David, and the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo would chisel at chunks of marble creating breathtaking works of art. What amazes me is that Michelangelo viewed his sculpting as chiseling away the marble to discover the beauty that lies within.

The reason this quote speaks such volumes is because I believe each of us are chiseling away at the marble to find the beauty within. There is a beauty inside each and every one of us. There are goals, dreams, motivations, and aspirations. There are hopes, wants, desires, and needs. The marble in which we chisel is this funny thing called life, and the beauty within is the angel waiting to be set free in each of us. Each of us are on a quest to discover our true selves, but the only way to discover is to live; to carve at the marble until the angel is set free.
I am nervous, but excited all the same to start my blogging endeavor. Here goes nothing! Since this is my introductory post, it's unfortunately going to be a short one.

Until next time....

Peace & Love,

CC

  1. Courtney, I can not say how much this spoke to me. I have gone through alot of transitions lately and as I read this the picture was so clear, I have been chiseling away at the marble to get to the angel. Wow, I could not have explained this process any clearer. You are a wonderful insightful woman, I appreciate your blog and you sharing. May I inspire others as you are. God Bless

  3. Amazing! You truly are discovering not only the beauty that you hold within your own heart, but your writing and beautiful thoughts inspire the beauty in others. It is rare to find people who understand that the chunks of stone that are carved away from the "end result" are not negative characteristics, but are simply road signs that guide us along our journey. With out the entire rock, the beautiful carving could never have been created. Keep carving, ever chip that falls off of you could be the hammer and chisel in some other persons sculpture of life.
